The top 10 players returning to the Troy Trojans for the 2020 college football season.
Important to note that this list is based upon last year's data and film from on each specific team as well as judgment based upon the player's position both his skill and the level of talent around him at the said position and influential cohorts. Positional value also plays a large factor in these rankings as does the offensive or defensive scheme.
1. Carlton Martial, LB
2. Kaylon Geiger, WR
3. Dell Pettus, S
4. Khalil McClain, WR
5. Will Choloh Jr., DI
6. DK Billingsley, RB
7. KJ Robertson, LB
8. Reggie Todd, WR
9. Austin Stidham, T
10. Dylan Bradshaw, C
Honorable Mention: John Hines Jr., DE: TJ Harris, CB
Martial is not only the class of linebacker in the Sun Belt, nor is he just the class of Group of 5 linebackers this season, he's among the nation's best at the position and should be included with the likes of Micah Parsons at Penn State. A sure-fire All-American by everyone's consensus, there is quite literally nothing that Martial doesn't do at high levels at linebacker.
He's a solid tackler in space. A space-eater when patrolling from sideline-to-sideline. Tremendous in coverage. And can rush the passer if necessary. He's a three-down threat and a headache for opposing offenses week in and week out.
Troy also possesses a headache for defensive coordinators with their trio at receiver. Geiger is an incredible all-around receiver with great moves after the catch and safe, sure hands. Todd is a burner who can make any defender miss and McClain just basically moves the chains for a first down or scores six points on nearly every reception.
Pettus is on the list for All-Sun Belt at safety while Choloh seems to have all the tools to breakout even more so than he did a year ago. Billingsley could go for over 1,000 yards on the ground, easily, while they figure out life after Kaleb Barker at quarterback.
