The top 10 players returning to the NC State Wolfpack for the 2020 college football season.
Important to note that this list is based upon last year's data and film from on each specific team as well as judgment based upon the player's position both his skill and the level of talent around him at the said position and influential cohorts. Positional value also plays a large factor in these rankings as does the offensive or defensive scheme.
1. Louis Acceus, LB
2. Alim McNeill, DI
3. Ikem Ekwonu, T
4. Emeka Emezie, WR
5. Tyler Baker-Williams, CB
6. Thayer Thomas, WR
7. Cary Angeline, TE
8. Drake Thomas, LB
9. Chris Ingram, CB
10. Isaiah Moore, LB
Honorable Mention: Devin Carter, WR; Grant Gibson, C; Bryson Speas; T
Acceus played just eight games a season ago but was incredibly impactful in each and every one of them. He recorded five sacks and a handful of other quick pressures on limited blitzing snaps and was a menace to opposing passing attacks. He didn't make all the splash plays you'd want him to, but the potential that he showed, is more than enough to give him the nod to No. 1 here.
McNeill was dominant as well, recording a team-high in sacks and recording multiple tackles for loss in the run game. He's a three-down interior lineman who, if he adds a bit to his open-field tackling, becomes one of the ACC's best on the inside.
Ekwonu and Emezie are untapped potential stars on the offensive side of the ball while Baker-Williams is quietly one of the conference's top sticky cover corners from the slot. He'll stick with tight ends just as easily as he can run with speedy wideouts and cover shifty running backs. That's impressive for a man his size.
Thayer Thomas is a do-it-all receiver who threw nearly as many touchdowns (2) as he hauled in (3) last year. Expecting big things from him.
