The top 10 players returning to the Illinois Fighting Illini for the 2020 college football season.

Positional value also plays a large factor in these rankings as does the offensive or defensive scheme.

This may be one of the top offensive line units returning to college football, headlined by their electric left guard Kendrick Green. Though he had to play some center last year, a healthy return of four of their five starters from last year is featured in the top eight players.
Green can move well at all levels while Palczewski and Lowe, at times, can represent one of the better tackle duos in the country. This is a unit that saw all but Kramer play every snap as a unit a season ago, in all 13 games. That's impressive.
Hobbs, Adams and Brown combined for six interceptions a season ago but they'll have to make up for the loss of Stanley Green in the secondary. Similarly, Hansen will have to continue to fly around to the football and make up for the loss of Dele Harding, who led the team in tackles by a landslide a year ago.
Quarterback play is the only thing holding back this duo from ranking higher because Smalling and Imatorbhebhe can each get open with ease.
