Top 10 Houston Returners in 2020

Updated: May 27

The top 10 players returning to the Houston Cougars for the 2020 college football season.

Important to note that this list is based upon last year's data and film from on each specific team as well as judgment based upon the player's position both his skill and the level of talent around him at the said position and influential cohorts. Positional value also plays a large factor in these rankings as does the offensive or defensive scheme.

1. Marquez Stevenson, WR

2. David Anenih, DE

3. Grant Stuard, S

4. Jeremy Singleton, WR

5. Payton Turner, DE

6. Damarion Williams, CB

7. Donavan Mutin, LB

8. Gervarrius Owens, S

9. Gio Pancotti, G

10. Clayton Tune, QB

Honorable Mention: Keenan Murphy, T; Derek Parish, DE; Jarid Williams, T; Braylon Jones, C

Perhaps the nation's fastest receiver, Stevenson is primed for another big year. It doesn't matter where he catches the ball, it could be a short slant or even a wide receiver screen, he's capable of taking it to the house just as easy as he is a straight 9 route.

Singleton is also there, ready to eat up the double coverages that Stevenson is likely to deserve. Anenih and Turner present a challenging duo to block off the edge while Mutin should continue to just rack up tackles behind them.

This will come down to Tune's performance in the offense as he had a ton of good in his arm but needs to limit the bad. And I mean limit the bad, because when he was off, he was off by miles last year.
