Top 10 Florida Players Returning in 2020

The top 10 players returning to the Florida Gators for the 2020 college football season.

Important to note that this list is based upon last year's data and film from on each specific team as well as judgment based upon the player's position both his skill and the level of talent around him at the said position and influential cohorts. Positional value also plays a large factor in these rankings as does the offensive or defensive scheme.

1. Kaiir Elam, CB

2. Kyle Pitts, TE

3. Shawn Davis, S

4. Marco Wilson, CB

5. Ventrell Miller, LB

6. Kedarius Toney, WR

7. Kyle Trask, QB

8. Zachary Carter, DE

9. Donovan Stiner, S

10. Trevon Grimes, WR

Honorable Mention: Jeremian Boom, BUCK; Stone Forsythe, T; Kyree Campbell, DI; Brett Heggie, C/G

The former highly-touted high school star, Elam blossomed last season as a sticky cover cornerback with great instincts and smarts. He has all the tools and plays like the big cornerback that he is. He had three picks and four pass breakups in a dominant year in limiting opponent's passing attacks.

Pitts is in the conversation as best tight end in the country, seeing his 2019 season end with 54 catches for 649 yards and five scores. He had multiple first-down receptions in crucial moments and should serve as a security blanket for Trask, who struggles at times with his reads.

Speaking of Trask, if he can work out some minor kinks in his mechanics and find a better rhythm in the pocket, he'll move up these rankings, for sure. And same for Toney, who is as explosive and electric as they come in college football. Just go back and watch the Miami game and you'll see.

Also on defense, Davis, Wilson and Stiner represent one of the SEC's best returning groups in the secondary. Davis and Stiner are perhaps one of the better returning safety duos in the conference and Wilson represents another sticky corner with long reach and incredible instincts.

This season will come down to Trask and his ability to stay on schedule but with his returning group of stars on defense, they should be able to bail him out again.
