The top 10 players returning to the Clemson Tigers for the 2020 college football season.
Important to note that this list is based upon last year's data and film from on each specific team as well as judgment based upon the player's position both his skill and the level of talent around him at the said position and influential cohorts. Positional value also plays a large factor in these rankings as does the offensive or defensive scheme.
1. Trevor Lawrence, QB
2. Travis Etienne, RB
3. Justyn Ross, WR
4. Xavier Thomas, DE
5. James Skalski, LB
6. Tyler Davis, DI
7. Jordan McFadden, OT
8. Jackson Carman, OT
9. Derion Kendrick, CB
10. Nyles Pinckney, DI
Honorable Mention: Matt Bockhurst, OG; Nolan Turner, S; Mario Goodrich, CB
Not much up for discussion after No. 1 and 2 -- Lawrence and Etienne are the clear-cut best players at their position entering 2020, having each produced multiple seasons of elite play. Lawrence hits every throw and has been long since considered the top player for the 2021 draft, and not much is changing that.
Justyn Ross was one of the best receivers in all of college football in 2018 and though he didn't quite have a repeat season in terms of success in 2019, has all the tools and ability.
Thomas is the epitome of 'having all the tools' and it seems that any moment, we'll see him explode onto the scene and more so than he has.
The tackle duo of Carman and McFadden should finally find their homes on the respective ends and create perhaps the best bookend tackle situation in the ACC while Pinckney and Davis form the second-best interior duo on the defensive line (Marvin Wilson & Cory Durden).
