Top 10 Auburn Players Returning in 2020

Updated: Jul 15, 2020

The top 10 players returning to the Auburn Tigers for the 2020 college football season.

Important to note that this list is based upon last year's data and film from on each specific team as well as judgment based upon the player's position both his skill and the level of talent around him at the said position and influential cohorts. Positional value also plays a large factor in these rankings as does the offensive or defensive scheme.

1. K.J. Britt, LB

2. Seth Williams, WR

3. Big Kat Bryant, DE

4. Roger McCreary, CB

5. Jamien Sherwood, S

6. Anthony Schwartz, WR

7. Eli Stove, WR

8. Smoke Monday, S

9. Tyrone Truesdell, DI

10. Nick Brahms, C

Honorable Mention: Nick Brahms, C; Bo Nix, QB

Britt can do it all, and do it all at a high level. He's solid in coverage, a great pass-rusher, won't miss many tackles but excels against the run. Britt will consistently fight off blockers with ease to bring down ball carriers, using terrific instincts and great awareness to read and react to plays at an incredibly high level.

Williams made Nix a season ago. There are multiple instances of what looked like intentional throwaways that Williams brought back to life. Multiple instances of 50-50 balls heaved up with a prayer from Nix that Williams brought down. He quite literally should get a share of Nix' freshman honors a season ago. Williams is a contested-catch nightmare for defensive backs and is as terrific on his routes as he is with the ball in the air. He is a name to know this season and the next, when he's in the NFL.

Stove and Schwartz are incredibly talented receivers as well, but need more open looks and better throws from their quarterback to utilize such talent.

But on defense, this is where the Tigers should have strength once again. Bryant returns with a ton of pressures to his name while Truesdell is liable to break out this fall. McCreary is rangy and an incredibly-sound tackler in space. His ball skills are the best on the team as he led the way with 10 PBU a season ago.

Monday brings the heat while Sherwood is great in coverage. They're a terrific safety duo in their own regard and should only see more snaps to prove it this fall.

JaTarvious Whitlow would absolutely be on this list if it was confirmed he'd be returning to Auburn from the transfer portal.
