The top 10 players returning to the Baylor Bears for the 2020 college football season.
Important to note that this list is based upon last year's data and film from on each specific team as well as judgment based upon the player's position both his skill and the level of talent around him at the said position and influential cohorts. Positional value also plays a large factor in these rankings as does the offensive or defensive scheme.
1. Charlie Brewer, QB
2. Raleigh Texada, CB
3. John Lovett, RB
4. Kalen Barnes, CB
5. Terrel Bernard, LB
6. Connor Galvin, T
7. Casey Phillips, T
8. Chidi Ogbonnaya, Edge Defender
9. Tyquan Thornton, WR
10. Tresten Ebner, RB
Honorable Mention: Xavier Newman, G; R.J. Sneed, WR
Brewer has shown himself as one of the nation's most accurate quarterbacks over the past few seasons and he returns in 2020 as one of the more experienced quarterbacks in all of college football. He's thrown 51 career touchdowns against just 20 interceptions and rarely has an off throw. Brewer is every bit one of the top quarterbacks returning to college football and his final season in Waco may be something special.
Texada and Barnes form a solid cornerback duo that is capable of stopping just about any aerial attack. Lovett averaged well over 6.0 yards per carry last season and should shift into the feature back role very well with JaMycal Hasty now gone. The tackle duo of Galvin and Phillips are people movers in the run game, and if they step up their pass protection, could prove to be among the best tackle duos in the conference.
Thornton steps into the feature role with Denzel Mims in the NFL after he turned 45 receptions into 782 yards a year ago. He's a very different receiver than Mims but every bit as potentially effective.
